This drill can be done with many kids on the court. Assuming all of the kids have already their racket, the coach gives a ball to each of his Student. All the kids put the ball on their racket holding the racket with their dominant hand (for really small kids who do not have enough strength, two hands are allowed). They all start at the back of the court.
Practicing with the coach:
On the coaches command “GO” the kids start running forward towards the net without holding the ball with their hands. They run (walking is allowed) all the way to the net and back and try not to drop the ball, should it happen they can get the ball and put it back on the racket and continue.
- Make a competition out of it. Let the kids know that this is a race.
- For a little bit more advanced kids, let them do this excercise also with the non-dominant hand.
- Also possible to run foreward with the dominant hand and return with the non-dominant hand.
